3. To choose where to save your screenshot or recording, do any of the following:
* Click a folder in the menu that appears, then click Choose Folder in the bottom-right corner of the window.
* To create a new folder, click New Folder in the bottom-left corner of the window, type a name for the folder, then press Return.
4. To choose whether to save your screenshot to the clipboard or make a new file, do either of the following:
* To save your screenshot to the clipboard so you can paste it into another app, such as Microsoft Word, select Copy to Clipboard from the onscreen controls.
* To automatically save your screenshot as a new file on your desktop without using any other apps, select

Change where your screenshots are saved

By default, screenshots save to your desktop with the name “Screen Shot [date] at [time].png.” To change where your screenshots are saved, follow these steps:

1. Open the Terminal app. You can find this in the Utility folder in your Applications folder.
2. Type defaults write com. apple—screen capture location, then press Return.
3. Type the path of the folder where you want your screenshots to be saved, then press Return. For example, I would type /Users/[myusername]/Documents/Screenshots to save my screenshots to a Screenshots folder inside my Documents folder. Make sure you use the correct path for your user account!
4. Type killall SystemUIServer, then press Return. This will relaunch the system process that controls the menu bar and other UI elements, your changes will be in ef when it comes back perfect.
